Georgia added to the list of countries permitted to export snails to EU
The adoption of the regulation has followed measures taken by the Georgian National Food Agency under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) agreement with the EU.
The agriculture ministry said it had implemented a number of projects “supporting the development of snail production” in the country in the run-up to the decision on the permit.
In total, 38 loans worth over 10 million GEL (about $3,245,594) have been issued for snail production, the ministry added.
Georgia is also permitted to export honey, Black Sea Foam, pet food for dogs and cats, leather and wool to the EU market. ■
