H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Baden-Wurttemberg, Niedersachsen and Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany have been resolved, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) reports.
In view of the outbreak of H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a layer farm in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the National Parks Board/Animal & Veterinary Service (NParks/AVS) has imposed a temporary restriction on the importation of poultry and poultry products from from the 10 km surveillance zone around the affected premises in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany with effect from 4 November 2020.
Heat-treated poultry products which comply with the OIE guidelines for inactivation of AI virus will not be subjected to the restriction.
The restrictions on the importation of poultry and poultry products from the Baden-Wurttemberg, Niedersachsen and SachsenAnhalt, Germany are lifted with immediate effect.
To facilitate the clearance of permits for poultry and poultry products, SFA would require the following attestations to be included in the veterinary health certificate accompanying the import of poultry and poultry products:
(a) Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and H5 and H7 low pathogenicity avian influenza (LPAI) are notifiable diseases in Germany.
(b) The birds from which the meat was sourced were not vaccinated against H5 and H7 subtypes of avian influenza (AI), as defined by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
(c) The poultry meat and meat products were not derived from birds originating from the 10 km surveillance zone around the affected premises in SchleswigHolstein, Germany.
(d) The poultry from which the meat was derived were born, raised, and slaughtered in Germany, or were legally imported as day old chicks from countries with equivalent poultry health status. ■
