At this stage, bovines and buffaloes of all ages should be vaccinated for most Brazilian states, according to the national vaccination calendar . Altogether, it is expected to immunize about 170 million animals.

Of the 21 states that carry out the immunization of animals in this period, in Amazonas and Mato Grosso only participate the municipalities that have not yet suspended vaccination, while in Espírito Santo it will occur for cattle and buffaloes up to 24 months of age.

Vaccines must be purchased at authorized resellers and kept between 2 ° C and 8 ° C, from acquisition to the moment of use - including transport and application, already on the farm. New needles should be used to apply the dose of 2 ml on the neckboard of each animal, preferring the cooler hours of the day, to make the animals adequate containment and the application of the vaccine.

In addition to vaccinating the herd, the producer must also declare to the state animal health defense agency. The vaccination declaration must be made online or, when this is not possible, in person at the stations designated by the state veterinary service within the stipulated deadlines.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) reinforces that care measures must be taken with Covid-19 to guarantee the maintenance of commitments to areas recognized as free from foot-and-mouth disease with vaccination before the World Organization for Animal Health ( OIE).

In case of doubt, the guideline is to seek the animal health defense agency of your state.
