Amazon offers free shipping for smaller items

Staff writer |
Amazon.com has launched a new offer for its customers wherein the shipping of popular smaller items is free of charge.

In addition to this, consumers won’t be required to place a minimum order to avail this offer. The program had a trial run almost two weeks ago after which it was found that products that offered free shipping without having a minimum order requirement sold more quickly than before.

The offer is valid for all Amazon consumers irrespective of whether they have an Amazon Prime account or not. Usually non-prime Amazon members have to have an order valued at $35 to avail free two-day shipping.

Through the new offer consumers looking to purchase cheap items one at a time would not have to worry about the shipping cost being more than the price of the product in question. Items should have a weight of 230 grams or less in order to be considered for free shipping.

Such items usually have a price range under $10. The delivery time for such goods under Amazon’s new service would be four to eight working days.

Amazon.com has set up a shipping hub in Florence Kentucky dedicated for the new program that is called "Fullfillment."
