Deere cuts 57 employees in Davenport plant

The Moline, Illinois-based company said it notified employees in Davenport Works of the cuts about a week ago. The cuts become effective Jan. 6.
It's the second round of layoffs the company has announced this fall. In late September, Deere said it was laying off 113 employees at the Davenport plant, effective Nov. 18.
At the same time, the company said it would place about 50 employees in John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, Illinois, on indefinite layoff, beginning Oct. 28. The plant makes large farm equipment. ■
