New Zealand's largest bank ANZ experiences outages due to cyber attack

New Zealand’s largest bank, ANZ, and other financial entities and other institutions including as the national postal service were hit outages by a cyber attack on Wednesday, official sources and the affected parties said.

The country’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) said it was aware of “a DDoS ( distributed denial of service) attack targeting a number of New Zealand organizations.”

“We are monitoring the situation and are working with affected parties where we can,” the agency added, without specifying further details about the incident.

Meanwhile, ANZ New Zealand said on Twitter that it was “experiencing an outage with our Internet Banking and goMoney app at the moment.”

“Our tech teams are working hard to get things fixed asap!” it added.
