Tesco - which is the UK's biggest supermarket - first launched same-day delivery in London and the south east of England in 2014, and will now extend the service to over 300 stores across the country, which Tesco said covers 99% of UK households.

Customers can order by 1300 BST to have their shopping delivered from 1900 BST onwards. The service will be available seven days a week in London and the south east, and six days a week - Monday to Saturday - across the rest of the UK.

Delivery is priced between GBP3 and GBP8 but is free for a limited period to members of Tesco's online delivery membership scheme, Delivery Saver.

Nationwide roll-out will be complete by the end of August.

Earlier this year Tesco also extended its same-day click + collect service to 300 locations across the UK.
