September’s strong result came on the back of a broad-based expansion in all three industrial sectors, with the manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sectors expanding healthily and the mining and quarrying sector growing nearly 20%.

A month-on-month comparison showed that industrial production declined 0.3% in seasonally and calendar-adjusted terms (August: +3.2% month-on-month).

The overall trend consequently weakened in September as annual average growth decreased from 6.3% in August to 6.0%.

Analysts surveyed by FocusEconomics expect industrial production to expand 4.4% in 2018, which unchanged from last month’s projection.

For 2019, the panel expects industrial output growth of 4.2%.
