Poland business confidence rebounds in January

The manufacturing sector business climate index swung from minus 2.6 points in December to plus 2.7 points in January, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS).

December’s reading had marked the worst result in three years. As a result, business confidence is now above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

January’s upswing came on the back of an improvement in sentiment regarding the future general economic situation and the outlook for firms’ production.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 2.9% in 2017, which is down 1.0 percentage points from last month’s estimate. For 2018, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 5.0%.
