Slovakia GDP increased 3.1%

In the first quarter of 2017 the Gross domestic product (GDP) in Slovakia at constant prices increased by 3.1% as compared to the same quarter of 2016.

After seasonal adjustment GDP rose by 3.1% as compared to the first quarter of 2016 and by 0.8% in comparison with the previous quarter.

The volume of GDP at current prices in the first quarter of 2017 reached 19 292,1 million EUR what represented the increase by 4.1% in comparison with the same quarter of 2016.

Total employment in the reference period reached 2 341,7 thousand persons. In comparison with the first quarter of 2016 it increased by 2.1%.

Seasonally adjusted total employment rose by 2% as compared to the first quarter of 2016 and by 0.3% as compared to the fourth quarter 2016.

Flash estimate of Gross domestic product and Total employment will be updated and supplemented with other structures of the indicators on the basis of subsequent available statistical and administrative data.

The data will be published in the Statistical report on basic development tendencies in economy of the Slovak Republic in the first quarter of 2017. The updated results will be published on June 7, 2017.
