Slovakia: In September, industrial production increased, year-on-year, by 0,4%

In September, industrial production increased, year-on-year, by 0,4%. The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by growth in manufacturing by 1,7% and by drop in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,5% and in mining and quarrying by 10,6%.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production increase, the most significant growth was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 10,1%, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 26,5%, manufacture of electrical equipment by 12,9%, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 5,1% and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 9,8%.

The total production was affected mostly by decrease in manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 7,2%, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,5%, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 14,5%, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 21% and in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 11,4%.

Compared with September 2017, in terms of the main industrial groupings production of investment goods rose by 11% and production of non-durable consumer goods by 1,3%. Production related to energy dropped by 10,8%, production of durable consumer goods by 8,7% and production of intermediate goods by 4%.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production decreased by 0,2% in

eptember 2018 compared with August 2018. Since the beginning of the year, IP increased, year-on-year, by 1,6%, of which in manufacturing by 3%. Production decreased in mining and quarrying by 8,8% and in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6,2%.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production growth, the most significant increase was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 7,3%, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 8,6%, manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 3,1%, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 2% and in manufacture of electrical equipment by 4%.

Production was down mostly in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6,2%, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 11%, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 6,5%, mining and quarrying by 8,8% and in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 5,7%.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 6,7%, production of non-durable consumer goods by 5,2% and production of intermediate goods by 1%. Production of durable consumer goods decreased by 10,9% and production related to energy by 6,3%.
