U.S. industrial production rises 0.2 percent in July

U.S. industrial production rose slightly less than expected in July, the U.S. Federal Reserve said.

Industrial output rose 0.2 percent after an unrevised 0.4 percent increase in June.

The data was released earlier in the day than expected. A Fed spokesman said the central bank inadvertently published the data on its website before its scheduled release, and attributed the early publication to "human error."
