Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) received respective reports that one worker of the subcontractor and two workers of the contractor of the Three runway System (3RS) projects have been confirmed to have contracted and preliminary tested positive for coronavirus, respectively.
A staff member of Hong Kong Airport Services Limited (HAS) has also been identified as a close contact of coronavirus patient. All relevant work areas and the vessels that transport workers to and from the work site have been cleaned and disinfected.
The AA was informed by 3RS reclamation contractor ZHEC-CCCC-CDC Joint Venture that a worker of its subcontractor has been confirmed to have contracted coronavirus. The concerned worker was responsible for plant operations and last reported duty on 28 December.
Relevant works have been suspended. Those who had been in contact with the concerned worker are undergoing coronavirus test and will stay home while waiting for test results.
The AA was also informed by 3RS construction support facilities contractor Tapbo Construction Company Limited and Konwo Modular House Limited Joint Venture that two workers have been preliminary tested positive for coronavirus.
The concerned workers, who last reported duty on 28 December, were the work contacts of the worker who was confirmed to have contracted coronavirus yesterday. All workers working for the project have been arranged to undergo coronavirus test.
The contractor has suspended relevant site works since yesterday, and reiterated to all workers at the site that they must wear face masks while working.
Relevant AA staff working for the abovementioned projects have been arranged to undergo coronavirus test and will stay home while waiting for test results. They had worn face masks all the time while working.
Separately, the AA was informed by HAS that a family member of one of their staff has been confirmed to have contracted coronavirus. The concerned staff has been identified as a close contact and will undergo quarantine arranged by the Government.
The concerned staff is a cargo loading agent and he last reported duty on 27 December. HAS has arranged other staff members who had been in contact with the concerned staff to conduct coronavirus test. ■
