Staff Writer |
Reports from French Polynesia say a 132-metre long cargo ship has run onto the reef of Raroia atoll in the Tuamotus.

The Philippines-registered ship had reportedly at least nine people on board.

The alarm was raised by the mayor of Raroia, prompting French authorities to send aircraft for an initial asseessment.

So far there has been no report of any marine pollution.
