Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to the XPO Logistics facility at an industrial estate in Woodston after a blast was reported in the coldstore. An XPO Logistics spokesman confirmed the blast occurred at a site sub-leased to a customer.

"Two people were injured," he added. "Our thoughts are with both of them as we work with local authorities to gather more information about this incident."

An air ambulance took the casualties to hospital. Cambridgeshire Police said there was "no ongoing danger" following the explosion.

The Health & Safety Executive has started an investigation into the incident.
