Four workers suffer chemical burns in Wacker Chemical plant in U.S.

Four maintenance workers suffered injuries while performing maintenance in a process building in Wacker Chemical’s polysilicon production facility in Charleston, Tennessee.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that all four workers were taken to a nearby hospital.

A spokesperson for Wacker said that the workers had been conducting maintenance on non-operating equipment.

The spokesperson added that there had been no damage caused to the environment or local community.

The local police department said in a statement that the four men were taken to hospital via ambulance and airlift with suspected chemical burns and that they had possibly inhaled toxic substances.
