Georgian ex-president arrested on roof, charged with plotting coup in Ukraine

The former Georgian president and ex-governor of Ukraine’s Odessa who now leads the Ukrainian opposition Movement of New Forces, Mikhail Saakashvili, was detained in Kiev today by Ukraine’s prosecutors, MP Viktor Chumak told the Public TV channel.

"The special ops units took Mikhail Saakashvili from the roof of his house," TASS cited Chumak as saying.

A lawyer said Saakachvili is accused of attempting to topple Ukraine's authorities.

Saakashvili has been charged with plotting a coup in Ukraine, his attorney Pavel Bogomazov said.
