Temperatures will soar across the country both Wednesday and Thursday before a potent cold front triggers strong thunderstorms and ushers in cooler air.
Highs will climb to 24-27 C (75-81 F) on Wednesday from Stuttgart to Frankfurt, Cologne and Bremen.
High temperatures elsewhere will generally range from 22-24 C (71-75 F).
The most intense heat will shift into eastern Germany on Thursday as temperatures reach 25-27 C (77-81 F) in Munich, Dresden and Berlin.
It will remain unseasonably warm in western Germany on Thursday, although thunderstorms will knock temperatures down a few degrees from Wednesday.
These thunderstorms will threaten Frankfurt, Cologne, Bremen and Hamburg.
“The greatest threat will be flash flooding, though the strongest storms can produce large hail,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys. ■
