Two Air New Zealand planes struck by lightning

Air New Zealand says flights in Christchurch and Queenstown have been affected by bad weather this afternoon, with some cancellations.

Two flights, one from Wellington to Queenstown and one from Auckland to Queenstown, were struck by lightning this afternoon, Radio NZ reports.

The flights were diverted to Christchurch where the planes were being checked, Air New Zealand said.

Customers have been booked on other flights.
