Bulgarian transport performance registered 16.6% drop in Q1

According to preliminary seasonally adjusted data in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the previous quarter there was an increase in transported goods by 0.5% from the freight transport in Bulgaria.

The transport performance registered a 16.6% drop. The transported passengers by passenger transport (land, water and urban electrical transport) increased by 0.8% compared to the first quarter of 2016, while the transport performance decreased by 5.5%.

According to preliminary data during the first quarter of 2017 in comparison with the same period of 2016 there was an increase both in the goods carried and in the transport performance by the freight land and water transport.

In the first quarter of 2017 the transported passengers by passenger transport (land, water and urban electrical transport) increased by 2.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, while the transport performance decreased by 13.0%.

In the first quarter of 2017 the transported goods by land transport were 33 445.3 thousand tons or 7 094.8 thousand tons more than the corresponding quarter of 2016.

There was an increase in all types of land transport. The transport performance also grew by 8.0% compared to the same period of 2016 and reached 10 144.4 million tkm.

The increase was due to the higher average distance travelled by the national carriages.
