"Cars made in Slovakia last year were exported mainly to Germany, the UK, China, France and Italy. Altogether, more than half of all cars exported from Slovakia went to these five countries in 2013," said Postova Banka analyst Dana Spacirova.

Producers of televisions and monitors also significantly contributed to Slovak exports last year. Slovakia exported monitors worth a total of 5.4 billion euros. Most of them were exported to Germany, the UK and the Netherlands.

"Telephone sets were the third item that accounted most for Slovak exports in 2013, replacing petroleum oils in 2012," said Spacirova.

Phones exported from Slovakia were worth 3.2 billion euros, which was 5 percent of overall Slovak exports in 2013. The customers were mainly from the Czech Republic, Poland and Austria.

The largest share of Slovak exports went to European Union countries, in particular to Germany and the Czech Republic.

"The highest share of our exports outside the EU went to the Russian Federation, with China gradually catching up," said the analyst.
