Fruit exports from Poland down by 28% in 2015

Between January and June 2015, Polish fruit exports dropped by 28%, down to 676.9 thousand tonnes, compared to 930.1 thousand tonnes in the same period of 2014, according to the Ministry of Finance.

At the same time, the total volume of fresh vegetable exports dropped by 83.3 thousand tonnes, down to 339.2 thousand tonnes, compared to 422.5 thousand tonnes a year earlier.

In the case of processed fruit exports, these amounted to 465.5 thousand tonnes, which is 14% more than in the first half of 2014; for processed vegetables, the total volume amounted to 422.7 thousand tonnes, 3% less.

Meanwhile, the country imported 632.4 thousand tonnes of fruit (678.9 thousand tonnes in the previous year) and 315 thousand tonnes of vegetables (371 thousand tonnes in 2014).

Imports of processed fruit remained at a similar level and amounted to 180.9 thousand tonnes, and in the case of processed vegetable, Poland bought 27 thousand tonnes less, reaching a total of 150.1 thousand tonnes.
