Japan's exports of vehicles in January declined 1.8%

Japan's exports of cars, trucks and buses declined 1.8% year over year in January for the first fall in five months, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said.

Exports totaled 335,556 vehicles in January, down from 341,872 vehicles in the same month a year earlier, the association said.

Automobile production in January 2016 stood at 732,886 units. Compared with the 777,756 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is a decrease of 44,870 units or 5.8%, and production decrease on the same month of the previous year for 2 consecutive months.

Motorcycle production in January 2016 was recorded as 49,350 units. Compared with the 49,748 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, there is a decrease of 398 units or 0.8%, and production decrease on the same month of the previous year after last month’s upturn.

Automobile export in January 2016 was recorded as 335,556 units. Compared with the 341,872 units total recorded for same month of the previous year, this is a decrease of 6,316 units or 1.8%, and export decrease on the same month of the previous year after 4 months of upturn.

Motorcycle export in January 2016 was recorded as 39,739 units. Compared with the 39,968 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is a decrease of 229 units or 0.6%, and export decrease on the same month of the previous year for 8 consecutive months.
