Latvian ports increased cargo traffic in four months

Cargo turnover at Latvian ports reached 27.34 million tons in January-April 2014, 8.3% more than in the same period in 2013, the Transport Ministry's Transit Policy Department informed Nozare.lv, cites LETA.

The Freeport of Riga handled 13.4 million tons of cargo in January-April 2014, 21% more than in the respective period in 2013. The Freeport of Ventspils handled 11.45 million tons, a 3.9% decrease, and the Port of Liepaja 1.87 million tons, a 7.2% increase.

Bulk cargo made up the largest part of cargo turnover at Latvian ports in January-April 2014 - 12.7 million tons, followed by liquid cargo - 10.7 million tons, and general cargo - 3.96 million tons.
