Less expensive air transport in Norway

Passenger air transport prices in Norway were 10.6 percent lower in the 1st quarter of 2017 than in the same quarter last year.

Compared to the 4th quarter of 2016, prices decreased 4.5 percent.

The price index for passenger air transport decreased to 113.1 in the 1st quarter of 2017.

Flight tickets that have little or no flexibility after purchase are regarded as targeting private travellers, while flexible tickets are considered to be aimed at business travellers.

Compared to the same quarter in 2016, prices for “leisure travel” decreased 12 percent, while prices for “business travel” decreased 6.4 percent.

Compared to the 4th quarter in 2016, there was a decrease of 6.2 percent for “private trips” and an increase of 1.0 percent for “business trips”.

Prices for domestic flights decreased 11.1 percent, while prices for foreign travel decreased 7.5 percent compared to the 1st quarter of 2016.

Compared to the 4th quarter of 2016, there was a decrease of 5.7 percent for domestic flights and 1.4 percent for foreign travel.
