About 14.5 million people attended the Journey to Christmas festival, Sergei Sobyanin reported live on TV Tsentr channel.

“Because so many people are visiting the festival events, they buy souvenirs and other items, and there is a resulting growth in trade and the services sector, which boosts business activity and brings more taxes into the budget,” said the Moscow Mayor.

According to Sergei Sobyanin, during the New Year holidays, Moscow became one of the world’s top five tourist destinations.

City festivals have become a tradition in Moscow. They are held under the Moscow Seasons project which comprises four stages (seasons) – winter, spring, summer and autumn. Each stage includes several ambitious festivals. The next one will be dedicated to Pancake Week and Easter.
