Trade between Dubai and China hits Dhs135 billion

Trade between China and Dubai is worth Dhs135 billion a year, new figures show. The stat was announced following a meeting between Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, director of Dubai Customs, and Tang Weibing, China’s Consul General in Dubai.

The pair discussed bilateral trade and ways to increase it in the future.

The Dhs135 billion figure for 2013 makes China Dubai’s second largest trade partner. Customs said that trade increased last year by 18 per cent compared with 2012, when the figure was Dhs115 billion. It added that China is also the top trading partner of Dubai in terms of imports, worth a total value of Dhs130 billion.

The number of Chinese expatriates residing in the UAE exceeds 200,000 people, while 276,000 Chinese tourists visited Dubai in 2013.
