Angola will have data protection agency

Angola was taking the final steps on Sunday for the opening of the Data Protection Agency, said Vice Minister of Telecommunications Mario Oliveira.

Although he did not refer to a specific date for such a birth, Oliveira said that in the telecommunications sector the bodies that will support him have already been created.

We already have protection laws on social networks and others are prepared, said the official without offering many details.

We intend, he continued, to protect institutions and people about the risks of false news, which endanger society and families.

Those responsible for the misuse of information and communication technologies must be held responsible, he added.
