Bahrain and Russia to strengthen defence cooperation

Bahrain's Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, today at Gudaibiya Palace, received Commanders-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, Lt-Gen Viktor Bondarev, and reviewed cooperation bilateral relations, especially in the military and defence area.

Premier underlined Bahrain's keenness to raise the level of cooperation with Russia at the bilateral and Gulf levels. He said Bahrain is looking forward to establishing a Gulf-Russian partnership to promote economic and political cooperation based on mutual understanding and coordination.

Premier highlighted Russia's political and economic international standing, stressing reinforcing its regional role would be positively reflected on the security and stability in the region and the world.

Premier said that the development of Gulf-Russian relations will be in direct proportion to the development process that its progress requires stabile atmosphere.

Premier expressed delight in the growing Bahraini-Russian relations, which embodies the cooperation witnessed at all levels.

Commanders-in-chief of the Russian Air Force expressed his country's willingness to achieve further cooperation with Bahrain in all fields. He noted HRH Premier's perceptive mindset toward the development of crises and his ability to find optimum solutions to defy the same challenges.

He pointed out the importance of Gulf-Russian partnership for the benefit of joint interests.
