The job fair will be hosted by the Division of Military and Naval Affairs at the National Guard Armory, 76 Patriot Way in Rochester, Monroe County.

"New York owes a tremendous debt to our veterans and military families, and helping these brave men and women find employment is one small way to thank them for protecting our nation and the freedoms it was founded upon," Governor Cuomo said.

The Hiring Our Heroes veterans job fair will feature 62 businesses from across the region, including Lockheed Martin, National Grid, Cannon Design, Best Buy, and Mr. Rooter Plumbing.

The job fair is open to veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve, as well as military spouses.

An employment workshop will be available to job seekers at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Hiring Our Heroes job fair from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the National Guard Armory near the Rochester International Airport.

The employment workshop will consist of a classroom session followed by one-on-one mentoring sessions with human resource professionals for all pre-registered participants.

Mentoring sessions will focus on resume writing and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants. In addition, representatives from the Veterans Administration will be on site to assist with any questions about benefits and health care.

The job fair is one of a series of events conducted by the United States Chamber of Commerce Foundation across the country. The New York State Department of Labor, the Rochester Business Alliance, and Rochester's Veterans Outreach Center, Inc. are partnering with the New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs and the New York National Guard in sponsoring this event.

Other sponsors include the New York Committee of Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve; the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service; the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; the American Legion; Goodwill Industries International; and NBC News. The Division of Military and Naval Affairs has hosted similar events at the Patriot Wary Armory in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

Since the program launched in 2011, more than 1,000 hiring fairs have been held across the United States and 28,000 veterans, military spouses, National Guard members and Reservists have been hired by employers who attended these events.

In 2015, more than 29,500 job seekers took part in 95 Hiring our Heroes job fair events, and more than 3,600 of those participants received job offers.

Qualified job seekers must register ahead of time to participate in the Job Fair taking place in Rochester on September 22, 2016. Registration can be found online at: www.cvent.com/events/hiring-our-heroes-rochester-ny/registration-79349111ef224b75bf0527b7a7476d36.aspx.
