Peru seeks closer trade relations with Switzerland

According to the Peruvian diplomat, there was a marked dynamism in bilateral agricultural trade due to the high turnover of Peruvian products in Swiss supermarkets.
"Agribusiness will be the star sector of Peruvian exports for the coming years. We also see a big potential for the fisheries and textile sectors, which will gradually grow with new products," Mr. Chuquihuara said. Likewise, he said bilateral relations between both countries are at their best moment.
Mr. Chuquihuara said this year we are commemorating two important facts. "The first is the commemoration of the 130 years of bilateral relations, as these began in 1884, and the second is the 50th anniversary of bilateral cooperation, as Switzerland supports us in the fight against poverty, climate change implications and the improvement of the public administration's efficiency."
Mr. Chuquihuara also stated that Switzerland was one of Peru's most important trade partners in the European bloc because much of the Peruvian mining exports go to that market. ■
