South Africa to create jobs in agriculture
By providing support to smallholder farmers through speeding up land redistribution and offering technical, infrastructural and financial advice, further jobs will be created in South Africa.
"Agriculture is identified as a key job driver, and our target is to create one million jobs by 2030," said the minister. "Support will be provided to communities to engage in food production and subsistence farming to promote food security, in line with the Fetsa Tlala food production programme."
The 2014-15 budget vote was pushed towards accelerating the implementation of programmes as outlined in the 2014/2015 to 2018/2019 Strategic Plan of the Department. This will allow the South African government to reduce unemployment in the country by creating one million jobs.
"A major part of community mobilisation will require us to make our resources available to all our producers, in particular, those who live in remote areas," added the minister. ■
