Tehran wants China to play more active role in nuclear talks

Iranian First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri has said it is necessary that China play a more active role in nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (France, Britain, the United States, Russia, and China, plus Germany).

Jahangiri made the remarks during a meeting with a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Tehran. He also praised China's positive position in the nuclear talks.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jahangiri stated that Iran seeks expansion of political, cultural and economic ties with Beijing.

The vice president stated that Iran attaches great importance to its trade ties with China and said Tehran welcomes investment of Chinese corporations in Iranian oil and gas industries.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jahangiri pointed to problems in the Mideast region and said that Iran is ready to cooperate with China in resolving the regional problems.

The Chinese official stated that Iran has always adopted “positive” approach regarding its nuclear rights.

The Iranian people's right to use nuclear energy peacefully should be maintained, the senior member of the Chinese Communist Party added
