Turkey hopes Tillerson’s exit to improve its relations with U.S.

The relations between the U.S. and Turkey do not depend on individuals, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said.

"Whoever comes in, Turkey’s stance is clear. It is not so important to us what the new secretary thinks about Turkey," Yildirim said, speaking to the media in Ankara.

At the same time he hopes that Rex Tillerson’s exit as secretary of state would improve relations between the US and Turkey.

"I hope healthier relations could be developed after that," Anadolu Agency cited Yildirim as saying.

Yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced CIA Director Mike Pompeo as his pick to be the country’s new secretary of state, ousting Rex Tillerson.
