Ukraine halts Russian gas imports, wants lower price than in Q2

Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said Ukraine would buy gas from other sources after energy officials from the two countries failed to agree on quarterly prices.

"From today, Ukraine is not getting gas from Russia. Transit supplies are as normal," state transport Ukrtransgaz spokesman Maksim Belyavsky said, referring to gas that crosses Ukraine to Europe.

Talks in Vienna between Russia and Ukraine on gas supplies fell apart on Tuesday.

Russia has proposed keeping prices unchanged from the second quarter at $247 per 1,000 cubic metres with a discount of around per 1,000 cubic metres. Kyiv wants better terms.
