Venezuela will buy 12 Sukhoi aircraft for $480 million

Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López confirmed President Nicolás Maduro's decided to spend $480 million to strengthen the fleet of the Venezuelan Military Aviation with the procurement of 12 Russian Sukhoi-30 aircraft.

The minister made the announcement at the headquarters of the Navy in San Bernardino, Caracas where he also referred to other military spending planned by the Executive Office.

The purchase of Russian Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft had already been announced by President Maduro in September, after the death of two pilots when one of those planes crashed in an area of Elorza, in Apure state, southwest Venezuela.
