As in previous years, the group of heads of state and government of the main UN deliberative body welcomes leaders from several parts of the world who demand Washington to lift an economic, commercial and financial blockade in force for over half a century.
The Ecuadorean President, Lenin Moreno, slammed U.S. blockade and harped on the need to respect sovereignty and non-interference.
"If we continue attacking and blockading States and peoples, as it is happening with Cuban people, we will never be able to attain a real freedom and democracy," he warned.
The African Presidents, Jacob Zuma of South Africa and Hage Geingob of Namibia, raised their voices to defend the end of the unilateral sanctions against Cuba, termed the main obstacle for its development.
Zuma expressed disappointment over U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to reverse measures aimed at reducing the scope of the blockade. ■
