Deere & Co. appoints new CFO, changes senior management

Moline, Ill., USA - June 2, 2012, Moline, Ill., USA - Deere & Co., an agriculture equipment manufacturer, announced that Rajesh Kalathur is appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer.

Mr. Kalathur held the position of Deputy Financial Officer for Deere & Company since April 2012.

Since joining John Deere in 1996 in Finance, Kalathur has held positions of increasing responsibilities in the areas of business development, logistics, operations, marketing, and general management in U.S. and Mexican locations. He had assignments at Deere & Company as well as at the Commercial & Consumer and Agricultural Divisions.

In February 2005, Mr. Kalathur led an initiative to set up the John Deere Technology Center India and subsequently led the successful integration of the Indian Tractor Joint Venture.

In April 2006, Mr. Kalathur was named the Managing Director and CEO, John Deere India, with responsibility for John Deere's business activities in India. In May 2009, he was appointed Vice President, Sales & Marketing, China/India/South and East Asia/Sub-Saharan and South Africa for the Agriculture and Turf Division.

Mr. Kalathur has a master's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Alabama and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

The company also announced other key changes in top management. James M. Field is appointed President, Agriculture & Turf Division – Americas, Australia and the Global Harvesting and Turf Platforms.

Mr. Field served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Deere & Company since June 2009. he joined Deere & Company in 1994 and has held a number of positions in the areas of accounting, treasury, and business development and planning.

Mr. Field served as Chief Financial Officer of Deere's former Timberjack Group, responsible for all accounting, finance and treasury functions. He was appointed Comptroller, Deere & Company, in May 2001, and Vice President and Comptroller, Deere & Company, in September 2002.

Mr. Field was named President, Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division in September 2007. Before joining Deere, he served in a number of assignments at Deloitte & Touche.

Mr. Field is a 1985 graduate of Western Michigan University, and holds a CPA. He is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of CPA.

John C. May is appointed President Agricultural Solutions & Chief Information Officer – a new senior executive position.

Mr. May served as Vice President, Global Platform – Turf & Utility, Agriculture and Turf Division, a position he has held since November 2009.

Mr. May started his career with John Deere in 1997 at John Deere Health Care where he was responsible for strategic planning and business development. He subsequently assumed a number of executive leadership positions within the former Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division, eventually holding the position of Director, Vehicles Marketing.

Mr. May next served as managing director of the Deere's China operations during a period of significant growth in the company's China business. Most recently, he held the position of Factory Manager, John Deere Dubuque Works. Prior to joining John Deere, he was a management consultant at KPMG Peat Marwick.

Mr. May has a bachelor's of science degree from the University of New Hampshire. He holds an MBA from the University of Maine.

Max A. Guinn is appointed to Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Communications, Public Affairs, and Labor Relations – a new senior executive position.

Mr. Guinn served as Senior Vice President, Global Platform – Crop Harvesting, Agriculture and Turf Division since May 2009.

Since joining the company in 1980, Mr. Guinn has held positions in Quality Services, Supply Management and Manufacturing in the company's Agricultural and Construction & Forestry Divisions.

Mr. Guinn was named General Manager, John Deere Seeding Group in 1995, and General Manager, John Deere Dubuque Works in 1996. In 2000, he was appointed Senior Vice President, Engineering and Manufacturing for the company's Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division. Prior to his current position, he was Senior Vice President, Manufacturing and Engineering – Global Harvesting Equipment.
