James A. Heeter to step down as Sonnenschein managing partner
Mr. Heeter led Sonnenschein in Kansas City for 10 years. During Heeter’s tenure as managing partner, Sonnenschein has seen significant growth in attorneys, clients and revenue and has twice expanded its offices at the American Century Tower overlooking the Country Club Plaza. A hallmark of his leadership has been his ability to recruit several other highly-regarded partners from other firms.
Mr. Heeter is president-elect of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and will serve as that organization’s president next year. He is also a member of the boards of directors of many civic and community organizations including the Civic Council of Kansas City, the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City, the Kansas City Area Development Council and Teach for America.
During his time as managing partner of the Kansas City office, Mr. Heeter has served on Sonnenschein’s firm-wide executive committee and chaired other task forces and committees of the firm. He will continue to serve as a trustee of the firm’s political action committee and as chair of the firm’s audit committee.
Mr. Snyder serves as the local chair in Kansas City of Sonnenschein’s national Real Estate Practice. He will continue to practice law actively, handling all aspects of commercial real estate and lending transactions, including loan workouts, financings and loan transactions, real estate developments, leasing, land use and economic incentives. Mr. Snyder’s clients include various local and national developers, banks and other financial institutions, loan servicers and real estate funds.
Mr. Snyder is a member of the board of directors of the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City. He serves on the board of directors of NAIOP - Kansas City and the Olathe Economic Development Council, where he is a past chair. He also remains active in the Urban Land Institute, the Kansas City Area Development Council (KCADC) and other economic development agencies and organizations. Mr. Snyder is a past president of the Real Estate Law Section of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and has been named a leading real estate attorney in Kansas City by Chambers USA and Best Lawyers. ■
