Noble Energy CFO Chris Tong stepping down August 1

Houston, Tx., USA - June 23, 2009, Houston, Tx., USA - Noble Energy, Inc. announced that Chris Tong, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has decided to leave the company effective August 1.

Mr. Tong is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. Mr. Tong has 30 years of energy experience. He has been Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Noble Energy Inc. since January 1, 2005. He served as Treasurer of Noble Energy Inc. from January 1, 2005 to September 2005. Mr. Tong served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Magnum Hunter Resources Inc. from August 1997 to January 1, 2005. Prior to joining Magnum Hunter Resources in 1997, Mr. Tong served in financial leadership positions at Tejas Gas Corporation and in several commercial banking institutions and had served in other treasury positions with Tejas since August 1989. Mr. Tong served as Senior Vice President of Finance of Tejas Acadian Holding Company and its subsidiaries including Tejas Gas Corp., Acadian Gas Corporation and Transok, Inc., all of which were wholly-owned subsidiaries of Tejas Gas Corporation. From 1980 to 1989, Mr. Tong served in various energy lending capacities with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Post Oak Bank, and Bankers Trust Company in Houston, Texas. Prior to his banking career, Mr. Tong also served over a year with Superior Oil Company as a Reservoir Engineering Assistant. He has been a Director of Targa Resources Inc. since January 2006. He serves as a Director of two private Texas-based companies that Magnum Hunter owns various minority interests in, including (i) NGTS LLC, a natural gas marketing company and (ii) Metrix Networks Inc., a company that provides web-enabled automation to the oil and natural gas industr
