Partnership Assurance appoints two directors

Redhill, United Kingdom - March 10, 2014, Redhill, United Kingdom - Partnership Assurance Group, a financial company, announced that Simon Waugh and Paul Bishop are being appointed as non-executive directors.

Mr. Waugh was Chief Executive of AWD Group plc, the financial services group, from 2005, becoming Chairman in 2007, a post he held until 2009. Prior to this, his career was spent in an executive capacity at Centrica Plc, SAGA Services Ltd, Lloyds Bank PLC (Lloyds Bank Insurance Services) and American Express.

Mr. Waugh is currently non-executive chairman of CMC Markets PLC, MyDrive Solutions, The Consulting Consortium and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and a Trustee of Age UK. Between 2003 and 2009 he was a non-executive director of Johnston Press Plc. From 2009 to 2013 he was Chief Executive of the National Apprenticeship Service, reporting to the Secretaries of State at both the Department for Business Innovation and Skills and Department for Education.

Mr. Bishop's appointment will be effective May 1, 2014. He has spent the majority of his career at KPMG, and from 1993 to the end of January 2014 was a Partner apart from a brief period when he was employed at Atos KPMG Consulting as a Managing Director.

Mr. Bishop has specialised in the insurance sector for over 30 years, particularly life insurance, and led KPMG's insurance consulting practice for much of his time as a Partner. He also spent 18 months on secondment at Standard Life as Head of Finance Change in the period leading up to its demutualisation and IPO. He is a Chartered Accountant (ACA) and qualified in 1980.

The company also announced that Robin Phipps will step down from the Board today in order to focus on his other non-executive roles.

Mr. Phipps joined the board in August 2008. He was formerly Group Executive Director at Legal & General responsible for the UK business, and previously held a wide range of senior positions, including Group Director of Sales and Marketing, Group Director of Retail, Managing Director of Customer Services and Director of Information Technology.
