Santos appoints Greg Martin to board

Adelaide, Australia - October 29, 2009, Adelaide, Australia - Santos, oil and gas exploration company, has announced the appointment of Greg Martin to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Mr. Martin has nearly 30 years experience in the utilities, energy and energy related infrastructure sectors in Australia, New Zealand and internationally. Mr. Martin held the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of The Australian Gas Light Company for five years from 2001. In 2006, Mr. Martin joined Challenger Financial Services Group as Chief Executive, Infrastructure, principally engaged in the management of predominantly European and North and South American infrastructure investments.

Mr. Martin is a previous Deputy Chairman of the Australian Gas Association and served as inaugural Chairman of the Energy Supply Association of Australia between 2004 and 2006. He is a past member of the Business Council of Australia and Committee for the Economic Development of Australia.
