SGT announces appointment of senior VP of National Security Programs

Greenbelt, Md., USA - May 6, 2009, Greenbelt, Md., USA - Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT) announced the appointment of Brigadier General (retired) Duane Deal as the Senior Vice President of National Security Programs.

General Deal has a Bachelor of Science degree in physics, a Master of Science degree in counseling, and a Master of Science degree in systems management. He has also held fellowships with the RAND Corporation and the Harvard University Center for International Affairs.

Most recently, General Deal was the Director of National Security Programs for The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. Prior to John Hopkins, General Deal served as the Commander of Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center. As Commander his responsibilities included executing the North American Aerospace Defense Command's integrated tactical warning and attack assessment mission.

General Deal entered the Air Force as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force ROTC program. He has served as a senior pilot with more than 2,200 flying hours in seven aircraft types, including the SR-71 Blackbird. The general served as a logistics officer commanding three maintenance squadrons, one of which won "Best in the Air Force" honors, and one squadron in the Persian Gulf theater. He also served as Deputy Commander for Logistics for a provisional wing in the Persian Gulf theater for the first Gulf War.
