TomCo Energy appoints non-executive chairman, director

London, United Kingdom - July 20, 2015, London, United Kingdom - TomCo Energy, an oil shale exploration company, announced that it has appointed Andrew Jones as a non-executive chairman and Simon Corney as a non-executive director.

Mr. Corney was previously a partner at Altima Partners, a shareholder in TomCo, from 2004 to 2011. Before then he worked at Deutsche Bank within the investment banking division and at Shell, on operations including oil and gas acquisitions.

Mr. Jones has previously founded and developed a number of companies within the media and technology sectors. He has a background in corporate finance and was proposed by Kenglo One, TomCo's largest shareholder.

The announcement follows the resignations of Sir Nicholas Bonsor and Paul Rankine as TomCo directors.

Sir Nicholas was a member of British Parliament from 1979 to 1997 where he specialised in foreign affairs and defence, and was chairman of the Defence Select Committee from 1992 to 1995 and Minister of State at the Foreign Office from 1995 to 1997.

Sir Nicholas is currently the Non-Executive Deputy Chairman and Director of London Mining plc and Non-Executive Chairman and Director of Metallon Gold Corporation and Egerton International Ltd. He has served on the board of several other companies, including Blue Note Mining Inc. (Canada) from 2006 to 2008 and Cassidy Gold Corp. (Canada) in 2012.

Sir Nicholas is a Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, a freeman of the City of London (1988), a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Sir Nicholas practiced as a barrister specializing in regulatory and commercial law from 1967 to 1975 and from 2003 to 2010. He was appointed to the Board in March 2010.

Mr. Rankine will continue to act as a technical consultant to TomCo on expiry of his notice period, according to the company.

Mr. Rankine is a mining finance professional with more than 28 years of mining and investment experience. He has practical experience of listing and running AIM quoted mining companies as the CEO of Zambezi Nickel Ltd (May 2005 to February 2007) and as a director of Stellar Diamonds plc. (August 2007 to October 2010).

Mr. Rankine has more than 14 years as a mining equities financial analyst and consultant predominantly with JP Morgan Investment Management, Citigroup Asset Management and Altima. This is supported by strong financial and analytical skills from an MBA and an MSc in Mineral Economics. In addition, he has more than 10 years international mining experience in both underground and open pit mining as a professional mining engineer.
