Photography brand Kodak and specialist mobile device manufacturer Bullitt Group made the Kodak IM5, a 5" HD Android smartphone aiming to be easier to use than other devices on the market.

The Kodak IM5's simple, intuitive user interface offers quick and easy access to key functions such as calling, messaging, camera and contacts. Advanced remote management software also allows trusted friends and family to provide help if needed via a PC or tablet. As you would expect from a photography expert like Kodak, imaging is central to the phone's appeal and the IM5 makes taking, storing, sharing and printing photos quick and simple.
The 13MP auto-focus main camera comes with unique image management software that, at the touch of a button, lets users quickly edit photographs and either display them on the device, share on social media or print using an app compatible with home printers as well as future printing and sharing services. The desire for simplicity however doesn't mean a sacrifice on speed and performance. Running Android OS (Kit-Kat which will be upgraded to Lollipop), this octa-core 1.7Ghz is expandable to 32GB via a Micro SD card.
The Kodak IM5 has been built with simplicity on mind: 12 main apps are always in the same spot on the home screen and everything else is in an app drawer in the top right corner. If the smartphone owner (like your grandma) can't figure all of this out - and the phone has a very simple setup, they can ask for help via the phone's remote management software. It allows friends ot family to use their computer or tablet and take over control of the device. A very nice idea for customer afraid or unused to new technologies.
The Kodak IM5 has a plastic body design with rounded edges that sits comfortably in hand. It has no fake metal surrounding like some other devices and we think that's a good thing, and we believe it will survive a long use because Bullitt is behind some very robust smartphone like Caterpillar so they should know how to make a phone for those of use who are dropping their devices on almost a daily basis. The IM5 is a very interesting device: it's not a design king but it looks very dependable and a kind of a device that can live very close to your heart. ■
