If you combine them with foam boards, also an easy and cheap option, you got a decorative surface that also works and sound and rain protection, so that is the ideal solution for outdoor space, like balconies. But you don't have to cover the whole wall with a PVC panel, you can make a room divider, or even use them as a design element because they can be bought in different sizes and looks.
