95% of Iranian shrimps exported to foreign markets

Iran produced some 18,000 tons of shrimps last year nearly 95 percent of which were exported to foreign markets, according to a top official with Iran Fisheries Organization.

Vahid Madani told IRNA that Iranian shrimp are on demand mainly in the Arab countries and Europe.

The United Arab Emirates imports some 36% of Iranian shrimps to be the main destination of the product, Madani said.

He added that the Southeast Asian countries and Europe import 36% and 20% of Iranian shrimps respectively to rank next as the main importers of Iranian shrimps following the UAE.
