Albania to launch 2nd phase of cattle vaccination for lumpy skin
About 50,000 free vaccines have been assured by the ministry to help in the prevention of the disease, the minister told a press conference.
In line with the vaccination campaign, the ministry will also launch a process of registration and identification of the cattle.
Panariti said that some 900 cattle had died across Albania since the disease broke out months ago. However, he assured Albanian farmers would be compensated.
The ministry has asked the government to approve additional funding to compensate farmers and replace them with selected cattle breeds, he explained.
According to the minister, the compensation process will start once the spread of the contagious disease is fully under control. ■
