Belarus to increase food exports to Moscow by 10% in 2017

In 2017 Belarus will increase food supplies to Moscow by more than 10%, Belarus Agriculture and Food Minister Leonid Zayats told media on 10 June.Article continues below
The Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister took part in the ceremony to award the winners of the nationwide competitions for the best agricultural achievements in 2015. The ceremony took place during Belagro-2016, BelTA has learned .
According to the minister, next year Belarusian food supplies to Moscow will be increased. The assortment and volumes were coordinated at Belagro 2016.
“In the monetary terms the sum will exceed $500 million. In 2015 we supplied $450 million worth of products,” he said. According to Leonid Zayats, supplies will be increased in key positions such as pork, poultry, butter and cheese.
“The Russian capital shows interest in these Belarusian products. Now the number one goal for the industry is to enhance the competitive ability of the product, improve its consumer appeal,” he said.
At Belagro 2016 Belarus and Russia coordinated the assortment and volume of Belarusian food supplies to Moscow in 2017. The total supplies will make up nearly 250,000 tonnes, including 48,000 tonnes of meat products, 40,000 tonnes of cheese and 11,000 tonnes of curd and 120 million eggs.
The awards ceremony for the winners of the nationwide competitions took place during Belagro 2016. Over 20 awards in four nominations were presented to agricultural workers. ■ What to read next
