The objective is to verify the veracity of the information contained in the administrative processes and in the Computerized System of the Fishing Activity Registration (SisRGP), especially in relation to the date of the first registration made.
According to SAP, the action aims to inhibit losses that these possibly irregular registrations can generate, especially in relation to the undue receipt of benefits aimed at the category. Two weeks ago, SAP had already determined the suspension of 1,028 licenses and the cancellation of another 4,280.
The suspensions, published in the Official Gazette on May 31, were made after a systemic analysis of possible insertions and reinsertions of professional fishermen's licenses in the system, in addition to evidence of fraud and irregularities, and follows the recommendations of the bodies of control over the need for auditing and cleaning up the SisRGP.
The Secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Jairo Gund, says that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to developing compliance in the fisheries sector. "These licenses possibly correspond to people who pretend to be fishermen, so the suspension is a way of valuing and giving dignity to real fishermen and also of valuing public money", evaluates the secretary.
SAP has been working since 2019 to prevent irregularities, with the aim of preventing the undue receipt of benefits such as Seguro Defeso. The total number of Professional Artisanal Fishermen Licenses registered in the RGP that were suspended in this period reached 67,436 and cancellations amounted to 39,305.
Those who had their license suspended will have a period of 60 calendar days to file an administrative appeal against the decision via electronic petition. The appeal must contain documents proving personal data and fishing activity for complete and accurate verification of the information contained in the SisRGP and must be submitted through the Gov.br website. ■
